For this week’s assignment, I decided to create a screen cast of Google Classroom for my students. Since we were just informed that school is not starting back and we will begin using Google Classroom, I thought that this was the perfect topic for my screen cast. I decided to use screencast-o-matic to complete this project. I have heard so many things about screencast-o-matic so I was excited to dive into this program. I am always nervous when diving into new programs but screencast-o-matic was so user friendly! I was ready to start recording my screen after about two clicks of the mouse. I will definitely be using this program A LOT in the near future. Imagine if we could find a whiteboard app for our computers, we could display the whiteboard through the screen cast and it will be just like we are writing on a white board in our classrooms. If anyone has found an app like this, please share. 🙂

Hi Brandy. There are a number of web-based white board apps you can use. My favorite one is https://awwapp.com/. Not only can you use the whiteboard as if it were your Smart board, you can also invite others to join you so you can make it a group effort! -JG

I am like you in sense that I get nervous about using new technologies and tools, but I usually always end up loving it for my classroom. With this new way of distant learning we have to learn to adapt and allow our students and their parents to adapt along with them. I like how you used screen casting to give directions on how to use Google classrooms. I think that is a fantastic idea to show students and their parents how to use it. I decided to do a voice recording of what my students schedule would be like for the week. I teach kindergarten so that seemed like the best bet for them. I think the screen cast tool would be great to show parents the ends and outs of Google Classroom.

Hey Brandy, I thought you did a great job on this assignment and i think it was a good lesson plan. I think screen sharing would be a great tool to use in the Social Studies classroom. I think your instructions were very clear. I dont think there would be any excuse of a child to not understand.
