I have always been a bit confused when it comes to the different learning theories and how they relate to education. Completing this activity allowed me to learn more about each of the learning theories and give me a better understanding about how they are related to and can be used in the classroom. Because I had limited knowledge of the theories, it surprised me to learn that I already incorporate aspects of each of the theories into my classroom. For example, I use ClassDojo, Nearpod, Learning games, and other activities into my classroom. However, completing this assignment also provided me with other ways to incorporate the learning theories into the classroom.
I began this assignment by researching the different learning theories using the following websites:
- http://www.sanfordbrown.edu/Student-Life/blog/March-2015/Four-Top-Learning-Theories-in-the-Age
- https://opentextbc.ca/teachinginadigitalage/chapter/3-6-connectivism/
- https://edtechtheory.weebly.com/
I found each one of these websites extremely helpful while completing this assignment. The most challenging part of this assignment for me was thinking of activities involving technology that related to each theory.

Hello Brandy! I would first like to say that your Learning Theory Matrix is very captivating to the eye! It makes you want to read it. It never crossed my mind to be creative and add color. I too struggled with finding out what a matrix looked like or how to set it up. I went to various websites to assist me with how to even start. In previous classes, I had been exposed to all of the theories except, Connectivism. This theory was very interesting to learn about and how to tie each of them technological was also a challenge. Reading your blog post and seeing your end result has helped me to learn even more about each Learning Theory. In my classroom, I always find it challenging to keep technology going and engaging. As I completed this activity, I also learned that I am incorporating more than I thought but I am also excited about introducing more technology to my classroom.

I love the look of your matrix! I wish I would have thought to add pictures to mine. I have been regularly implementing technology in my classroom as well, but like you, had never realized that I incorporated these theories through the use of technology.
My beginner EL students absolutely LOVE Hot Dots! I find them fascinating…I just want to know how they work! I had never heard of Nearpod before until I started reading through some of these blog posts, so I plan to check it out. I’m always excited to learn about new technology that will make my students excited about learning.

Hi Brandy! I think your matrix is very well done. I love Class Dojo and think it can be very effective. I do not know much about Nearpod and Learning games, but I want to look into them. I really like the 4 pictures you put under the different learning theories. Your matrix is well thought out and very organized. My favorite example you brought up had to do with behaviorism. Hot Dots are a fun, interactive way for students to learn. Another example I loved was for connectivism, where students can create a blog because it’s very true that many students do not like talking in front of their peers.

Hey Brandy, I really enjoyed reading your post and i thought you had many good points. I agree with what you said about i agree that it can be very confusing when it comes to relating them to education. I find that i understand the basis of the theory but struggle when it comes to putting it to use.

Hi Brandy! I thought that your learning theory matrix was extremely eye-catching. Like you, I did not realize how many of the theories of learning that I was already incorporating into my classroom. Now that I completed this assignment, I think that I am better able to reflect and more accurately plan my lessons according to the learning styles that I believe to be most beneficial. Also, I can defend my lessons when necessary with evidence about the usefulness of various learning styles. Great post!
